A brief introduction to jesmonite.

Jesmonite was invented in the UK by a man named Peter Hawkins in 1984 and it is made up of two components, a gypsum-base powder and acrylic resin. Jesmonite is a versatile material and used across various industries from art to construction and you can get a variety of jesmonites for specific projects, the most common and widely used form of jesmonite is AC100.

AC100 is what I use personally and have yet to try the other types, but what I enjoy most about this type of jesmonite is the options of colouring it with specialized dyes, as it is opaque white without, and adding other matter such as beads, decorative stones and even jesmonite flakes.

If you do want to give jesmonite a go for yourself then check out Made from Jesmonite for more information.

This isn't sponsored by the way, they are just awesome. And Peter Hawkins is/was the technical and Development Director for the company.
